The FunnelWeb FWF 7891 is the main air filter for the Yamaha Ténéré 700: a pyramid profile-cut foam element that replaces the stock paper filter and fits all T700 model years. The pyramid surface gives it twice the external surface area of a standard filter in the same size, so it holds roughly twice the dust before airflow drops. It's the last line of defense between desert dust and your 689cc twin.
Why riders switch from the paper element
- 2× dust capacity: dirt spreads over double the surface area; the bike breathes freely deep into a dusty ride
- Washable & reusable: clean, re-oil, and run it again for seasons, instead of buying paper elements
- Oiled foam depth filtration: handles water crossings and mud that degrade paper media
- Direct fit: same airbox, same sealing surface, no modification
"After 4 days of riding in dry Southern California the outside was almost completely brown, while the inside was a yellow as the day it came out of the package. Great filtering." - Dirt Rider
Part of the Ténéré 700 three-stage system
The T700 filters air in three stages. This main filter (7891) is the final guard; ahead of it, the FWF 7890 pre-filter absorbs the sustained dust load and the FWF 7889 snorkel filter stops heavy dust at the intake mouth. Ride mostly pavement? The main filter is enough. Ride dirt regularly? Add the pre-filter. Desert or multi-day trips? Run all three. Full breakdown: the complete Ténéré 700 air filter guide.
Care
Wash, dry completely, re-oil, reinstall, one element serves for seasons. Never use No-Toil brand oil or cleaner on a FunnelWeb filter; its chemistry attacks the foam adhesive and will cause premature failure. Full walkthrough: how to clean and re-oil a foam air filter.
FAQ
What years does it fit? All Yamaha Ténéré 700 model years, the airbox design is shared across the range.
Does it come oiled? Run every FunnelWeb element oiled, the oil is the filtration. See the care guide above.
How often should it be cleaned? Dust decides, not miles. Our T700 service interval guide breaks it down by riding type.
